A phone number that previously belonged to the late linguist and former lawmaker Iryna Farion has suddenly become active again on Telegram. Photos from a vacation in Thailand were posted from that number. This information was reported by “Glavkom,” citing “Telegraf.”
A story posted from Pattaya appeared on the messaging app. This number previously belonged to Farion. Journalists explain that the situation arose because mobile operators re-assigned phone numbers.
Experts note that numbers that have not been used for a long time can be resold to other users. This usually happens 1–2 years after the last account top-up.
These cases often cause a public outcry, especially when they involve well-known figures. Similar situations can also occur with the numbers of deceased military personnel or civilians, which creates emotional distress for their relatives. To avoid reactivation, experts advise keeping the number active by topping up the account, even with a small amount.
As a reminder, Iryna Farion sustained fatal injuries on the evening of July 19, 2024, in Lviv as a result of an armed attack. She was hospitalized with severe injuries and died in the hospital. On July 25, law enforcement officers detained 18-year-old Vyacheslav Zinchenko in Dnipro on suspicion of committing the crime. The court ordered him to be held in custody without the right to bail.
