President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the creation of a Coordination Council that will address issues related to protecting the rights of war veterans and their families, as well as the families of fallen (deceased) defenders of Ukraine. The Council will also address issues concerning prisoners of war and persons missing in action.
This important step was formalized by Decree No. 483/2026, which was published on the official website of the President of Ukraine.
The purpose of establishing this council is to ensure the implementation of guarantees for the protection of the rights, freedoms, and legitimate interests of war veterans, their families, as well as the families of fallen (deceased) defenders of Ukraine, prisoners of war, and those missing in action.
With the adoption of the new decree, previous decrees concerning advisory councils on these issues, including those from 2020, 2021, and 2022, are no longer in effect.
According to the new document, the Coordination Council will function as an advisory body to the President of Ukraine, focusing its efforts on developing effective strategies to address these issues.
