On Saturday, July 25, Russia once again attacked a civilian vessel and Ukraine’s port infrastructure. This time, a vessel in the Odesa region was targeted.
This was announced by Ukraine’s Minister of Recovery, Infrastructure, and Transport Mykola Kalashnyk, according to RBC-Ukraine, citing his Telegram channel.
“Today, while leaving a port in the Odesa region, a civilian vessel flying the Palau flag, which was carrying nearly 2,800 metric tons of corn, was attacked twice,” he said.
According to Kalashnik, the attacks caused a fire. Seven crew members and a Ukrainian pilot were initially rescued. Currently, two sailors are considered missing. The search and rescue operation is ongoing.
“This is yet another deliberate strike against civilian infrastructure and international shipping. Russia is once again demonstrating complete disregard for international law, posing a threat to the safety of shipping, global trade, and food security,” Mykola Kalashnyk emphasized.

As a reminder, Ukraine’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sibiga recently stated that Russia attacked civilian cargo ships in the Black Sea and completely blocked traffic through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.
He noted that due to the threat of global famine, Ukraine is calling for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
