As of the morning of March 25, power outages have been reported in several regions of Ukraine due to Russian attacks, according to a Facebook post by the National Energy Company "Ukrenergo." The situation is most critical in the Chernihiv region, where rolling blackouts have been implemented.
Damage to energy infrastructure
Energy facilities in border regions, including Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, and Odesa, have been damaged as a result of massive missile and drone attacks. The situation is particularly dire in the Chernihiv region, where several consecutive attacks damaged equipment, forcing the implementation of hourly power outages.
Increase in electricity consumption
As of 9:30 a.m., electricity consumption exceeded the previous day’s level by 1.8%. This is due to cloudy weather, which reduces the efficiency of residential solar power plants, forcing consumers to use more electricity from the grid.
Ukrenergo urges consumers to shift their usage to the period of peak solar power plant efficiency, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and to avoid using multiple high-power appliances simultaneously during the evening hours, from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
