Azerbaijan continues to provide assistance to Ukraine in its recovery and reconstruction, Ambassador Seymur Mardaliyev stated during the celebration of Azerbaijan’s Independence Day in Kyiv. His remarks were reported by “Glavkom.”
According to Mardaliev, since the start of the full-scale invasion, Azerbaijan has consistently supported Ukraine, providing humanitarian aid totaling $49 million. “In difficult times, true friendship is demonstrated through solidarity and practical assistance,” the ambassador emphasized.
In his speech, he recalled that in January, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree allocating $1 million for the supply of electrical equipment to Ukraine. Additionally, Socar continues to supply fuel free of charge for ambulances and emergency services.
During the event, screens displayed information about Azerbaijan’s humanitarian initiatives for Ukraine, including the transfer of five electric buses to the Kyiv region, support for Ukrainian diplomats, and assistance in restoring energy infrastructure. It was noted that over 600 Ukrainian children deprived of parental care have already undergone rehabilitation in Azerbaijan.
The ambassador emphasized that Azerbaijan firmly supports Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. “Azerbaijan advocates for a just, lasting, and sustainable peace in Ukraine based on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, and this is our principled position,” he stated.
At the conclusion of his remarks, Mardaliyev addressed Ukrainians with words of support: “We are with you, and you are with us. This has made and continues to make us stronger.”
