19-year-old Ukrainian tennis player Veronika Podrez will compete in the qualifying rounds of the prestigious Wimbledon tournament for the first time in her career, where the total prize money is £26,736,000.
Veronika, who is ranked 144th in the WTA rankings, will face Dutch tennis player Arancha Rus, ranked 178th, in the first round of qualifying. The match will take place on Tuesday in London.
In May of this year, Podrez competed in another Grand Slam tournament—the French Open—where, unfortunately, she was unable to advance past the first round of qualifying.
Arantxa Rus has experience competing at Wimbledon, where she has played in the main draw eight times, with her best result being a third-round appearance in 2012. Rus has also participated in the qualifying rounds of this tournament six times.
The main draw of Wimbledon 2026 will take place from June 29 to July 12.
