Manchester City Football Club has officially announced that it is appealing the English Premier League’s (EPL) decision regarding financial violations uncovered during an investigation. This information was posted on the club’s official website.
In its statement, Manchester City noted that the appeal is comprehensive and is based on the club’s belief that there are material errors in the Premier League commission’s findings. The club does not admit to the allegations made against it and asserts that it has a significant amount of irrefutable evidence in its favor.
The club also emphasized that it respects established procedures and will refrain from further comment until the case is resolved. This demonstrates the seriousness with which Manchester City is approaching the situation and its desire to protect its interests.
As a reminder, an independent Premier League commission found Manchester City guilty of financial rule violations that occurred between 2009 and 2018. The club used fictitious commercial agreements to inflate revenue and understate expenses.
In addition, Manchester City submitted false financial statements, which allowed it to conceal its true financial condition from auditors and regulators. The club, a ten-time Premier League champion and winner of the 2022–23 Champions League, continues to fight to defend its reputation.
