Russia has again attacked the South Bridge in Kyiv

On October 2, Russia struck the South Bridge in Kyiv for the second time that day. The first attack occurred overnight, after which the bridge was closed to car and subway traffic, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.

Klitschko noted that emergency services had been dispatched to the scene to assess the situation. However, the condition of the bridge’s structure and the consequences of the latest strike have not yet been disclosed.

Attacks on the South Bridge began on October 1, when two drones struck near a bridge support as a “green line” train was passing. Fortunately, the passengers and the train operator were unharmed.

That same evening, another Russian drone damaged a bridge pier, the roadway, a guardrail, and the metro’s protective concrete barrier.

Given the situation, the Kyiv Metro is ready to resume service across the South Bridge, but there are certain conditions that must be met.
