The bill, dubbed “hellish sanctions” against Russia, has a good chance of being passed in the U.S. President Donald Trump expressed his opinion on the possibility of passing this initiative, proposed by Senator Lindsey Graham, during a press conference.
When asked whether the bill could be passed in the coming weeks and whether he was ready to sign it, Trump noted that the chances of that happening are quite high. “They’re seriously considering it, and that’s thanks to Lindsey. It was his initiative, and he wanted this more than anything. The chances of it passing are very high,” the president emphasized.
Trump also said that the bill could include not only new sanctions against Russia but also restrictions on Iran and the “Hezbollah” group. “If Iran is included, that would be a serious step. Perhaps ‘Hezbollah’ will be included as well,” he added.
Senator Lindsey Graham’s initiative calls for the imposition of tough economic sanctions against Russia and countries that finance its military machine. The bill is currently under consideration in Congress, but Trump’s comments indicate a high likelihood of support at the highest levels.
As a reminder, Senator Graham introduced this bill earlier with the aim of increasing sanctions pressure on Russia, proposing strict restrictions on countries that support the Russian economy.
