Russian strikes on locomotives in Zaporizhzhia and the Sumy region resulted in the death of an assistant engineer

Russian forces carried out attacks on Ukrzaliznytsia locomotives in Zaporizhzhia and in the Sumy region, resulting in the tragic death of an assistant engineer.

According to Ukrinform, Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, chairman of the board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia,” stated on his Facebook page that there were three strikes on locomotives: two in Zaporizhzhia and one in the Sumy region.

“Two crews managed to evacuate in time; none of the employees were injured. However, during the third collision in Zaporizhzhia, the engineer managed to get to safety, but the assistant, who was in the rear cab, could not be saved,” Pertsovskyi noted.

He added that an investigation into all the circumstances of the incident is currently underway.

Weekly Challenges for Railroad Workers

Pertsovsky emphasized that every week, railway workers save dozens of employees from enemy attacks, but every loss is an irreparable tragedy.

The company is providing all necessary assistance and support to the family of the deceased.

Earlier reports indicated that Russian troops attacked a gas station in Zaporizhzhia on Thursday morning. The situation remains tense.
