During a massive nighttime attack, Russia launched more than 70 missiles and nearly 500 attack drones, focusing the main strike on Kyiv. The attack left 13 people dead and more than 90 injured.
According to Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted in a Telegram post that Russia fired more than 70 missiles at Ukraine—nearly half of which were ballistic—as well as nearly 500 attack drones, including “Shahed” jet drones. Kyiv bore the brunt of the attack. Air defense forces were able to shoot down a significant portion of these weapons, but not all of them.
Work is ongoing in the capital to address the aftermath of the Russian attack: rescue workers are clearing debris, searching for people, and providing assistance. According to the President, damage has been reported at more than 20 locations in the city, primarily residential buildings. An ambulance station, a research institute, a hotel, and several businesses were also damaged.
“We currently know that 13 people were killed as a result of this strike. I extend my condolences to their families and loved ones. More than 90 people were injured, and everyone is receiving the necessary care. Five people were injured in the Kharkiv region, including a child, and two in the Kyiv region, where civilian infrastructure was also targeted. Last night, the Russians also attacked the Sumy, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, and Cherkasy regions,” Zelenskyy said.
The president emphasized the importance of supplying air defense systems to Ukraine.
