The Ukrainian mobile operator Kyivstar has announced that it will shut down its 3G network in August 2026 as part of its modernization efforts and transition to more advanced 4G networks. This decision was made to optimize spectrum usage and improve connection quality.
Regions where 3G will be shut down
The network upgrade process will take place in two phases:
Starting August 4, 2026:
- Vinnytsia Oblast: Koziatyn, Haisyn, Zhmerynka, Tulchyn, and Khmelnytskyi districts.
- Donetsk Oblast: Kramatorsk, Pokrovsk, Sloviansk, Bakhmut, Volnovakha, Kostyantynivka, Kramatorsk, and Pokrovsk districts.
- Zaporizhzhia Oblast: Zaporizhzhia, Vasylivka, Zaporizhzhia, and Polohiv districts.
- Kharkiv Oblast: Izium, Lozova, Bohodukhiv, Izium, Kupiansk, Berestyn, Lozova, and Chuhuiv districts.
- Kherson Oblast: Kherson, Beryslav, and Kherson districts.
Effective August 18, 2026:
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast: Kryvyi Rih, Kryvyi Rih Raion.
- Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast: Horodenka, Dolyna, Sniatyn, Verkhovyna, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kalush districts.
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast: Dunaivtsi, Krasyliv, Netishyn, Polonne, Starokostiantyniv, Khmelnytskyi, Kamianets-Podilskyi, Khmelnytskyi, and Shepetivka districts.
What do subscribers need to do?
Users who have not yet switched to 4G are advised to check the settings on their mobile devices and update their SIM cards to support the new communication standards.
