Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky has been appointed commander of the Marine Corps

Colonel Vadym Sukharevsky has become the new commander of the Ukrainian Marine Corps, replacing Major General Dmytro Delyatitsky. According to journalist Yulia Kyrienko, this appointment has already taken place and has been endorsed by lower-ranking commanders.

Sukharevsky previously served as commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, but on June 3, 2025, he was dismissed from that position by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. At the time, the colonel explained his decision to resign by citing differences in vision regarding the development of the Unmanned Systems Forces with the military leadership.

Prior to that, during the full-scale invasion, Sukharevsky commanded the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Handziuk, which became famous for its “Madyar’s Birds” UAV company. The colonel’s call sign is “Borsuk,” and he is a Hero of Ukraine.

Under his command, troops successfully carried out combat missions in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, and Donetsk regions. Yulia Kirienko noted that Sukharevsky is a “good manager” who was previously “shoved into the darkest corners of the service” by his superiors.

As a reminder, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatiy is rehabilitating officers who were removed from command of troops under the previous leadership. Among them is Emil Ishkulov, commander of the 11th Army Corps, who was recently promoted to brigadier general.
