Apple has sent out instructions on how to repair cracks in iPhone Duo screens

Apple has notified authorized service centers of an issue involving cracks in the internal displays of iPhone Duo smartphones. The company has prepared instructions for diagnosing the problem and recommends repairing or replacing the devices in accordance with standard procedures.

According to information provided by MacRumors, the issue affects only a small number of smartphones. In an internal memo, Apple advises technical specialists to inspect devices belonging to customers who complain of cracked displays and decide on the next steps.

“We are aware of an issue involving the internal display in a small number of iPhone Duo devices,” Apple stated, urging owners of such smartphones to contact AppleCare support for assistance.

The company assures that most iPhone Duo devices do not have this defect, and that the malfunctions occur shortly after the device is first used. However, Apple has not announced a recall of the smartphones nor launched a separate public repair program.

The first reports of cracks appeared about a week after sales began. Stripes formed on the screens of some devices, causing concern among users. Experts at iFixit suggested that a hinge defect might be the cause of the malfunction, but Apple has not yet provided a detailed explanation.

Following the unveiling of the iPhone Duo, Apple entered into a public dispute with Samsung, which mocked the new product on social media, claiming that Apple was copying its designs. At the same time, Samsung Display is the manufacturer of the flexible screens for Apple’s new smartphone.
