The General Staff reports a targeted information campaign against the newly appointed Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Major General Mykhailo Drapaty. This information was confirmed by Dmytro Lykhoviy, spokesperson for the General Staff, in a Facebook post.
Targeted Disinformation Campaign
Lykhoviy noted that since the first day of Drapaty’s appointment, numerous pieces of fake news have been circulating on social media, containing:
- false plans and promises;
- preliminary laudatory posts, only to later accuse him of lying.
He also reported that Drapato’s fake Twitter account has already been blocked with the help of the Ministry of Digital Transformation, but a new wave of fake pages has appeared on Threads and Facebook.
Caution and Debunking
Lykhovoy emphasizes that fabricated stories about conflicts between the new and old leadership have taken on a life of their own. He refuted rumors about an audit at the TCC and the creation of a charitable foundation. He noted that Drapato does not have a Threads account and does not plan to create additional social media accounts.
