Law enforcement officials have identified a Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) officer who was involved in the ten-hour torture and sexual violence against a resident of the Kherson region.
According to Ukrinform, this information was provided by the Office of the Prosecutor General. The investigation revealed that the 37-year-old suspect served in Department “B” of the FSB’s Special Purpose Center. In April 2022, he was deployed to support the occupation regime in the temporarily occupied Skadovsk district of the Kherson region.
On April 10, 2022, Russian military personnel unlawfully detained a local resident at his home. He was blindfolded and taken to the grounds of an occupied sanatorium in the village of Lazurne, where he was held and interrogated. They demanded information about local volunteers who were assisting Ukrainian defenders or might be storing weapons.
When they failed to obtain the information they wanted, one of the invaders ordered the use of more brutal interrogation methods. According to the investigation, the suspect, along with other Russian military personnel, tortured the man for about ten hours. They stripped him naked, beat him, choked him, and inflicted a gunshot wound.
After prolonged abuse, the victim was released in extremely critical condition. The actions of the FSB officer have been classified as cruel treatment of the civilian population and other violations of the laws and customs of war committed by a group of individuals.
