As of the morning of March 23, air pollution levels in Kyiv are rated as moderate; however, in certain parts of the city, readings have reached levels that are hazardous to vulnerable groups. The main cause of this is a large-scale fire at warehouses in the village of Pohreby, the smoke from which was visible throughout the city. Experts recommend that Kyiv residents close their windows and limit their time outdoors. This is reported by Glavkom, citing data from the SaveEcoBot website.
According to monitoring data, the highest pollution levels were recorded in the Podil and Desnianskyi districts, where the air quality index stands at 73 and 71, respectively. Such levels can be dangerous for people with sensitive lungs or heart conditions, as well as children and the elderly, causing them breathing difficulties.
In the Holosiivskyi district, the index reached 117; however, this data is outdated, as the monitoring station has not updated its information since 6:00 a.m. on March 22. The best situation is currently observed in the Obolonskyi district, where the air quality index stands at 46.
