The District Court in the Croatian city of Pula has ruled to extradite Ukrainian citizen Volodymyr Zhuravlev to Germany, where he is suspected of blowing up the “Nord Stream” and “Nord Stream 2” gas pipelines. The decision was made on September 18, and the parties received written notification five days later.
Zhuravlev’s defense team, led by attorney Mykola Katerynchuk, plans to appeal the decision. Katerynchuk called the verdict biased and politically motivated, stating his intention to file an appeal.
Germany charged the Ukrainian with unconstitutional sabotage, intentionally causing an explosion, and destroying structures. These actions also constitute a war crime, as civilian facilities were damaged and public utilities were disrupted.
Volodymyr Zhuravlev became the second suspect in this case. The first suspect, Sergey Kuznetsov, is already in custody in Germany, where he was charged in the fall of 2025.
Zhuravlev was detained during the filming of a Hollywood movie about sabotage, tentatively titled “Snake Island.” This occurred in Pula, where the film crew was working on underwater scenes after relocating from Zagreb.
