5G expansion in Ukraine: what awaits Kyiv

First Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation, Mr. Prybyitko, announced that the 5G pilot program is already underway in Lviv and Borodianka, and will launch in Kharkiv on February 14.

"The main outcome of the pilot is that over half a million Ukrainians have already tested 5G in real-world conditions," he noted.

According to him, the Ministry of Digital Transformation has identified a clear trend: as coverage becomes available, users actively begin to use it. Traffic has increased severalfold. Thanks to high speeds, subscribers are watching videos in the highest quality, quickly downloading large files, and working with cloud services directly from their phones.

"The most important achievement of the pilot is stability. Despite a sharp increase in network load, connection quality remained high. This is the main advantage of 5G: the network can handle a large number of active users simultaneously without losing speed," the deputy minister explained.

Kyiv will be the next city for the 5G pilot launch

Prybylko confirmed that Kyiv will be the next city to launch a 5G pilot.

"There are no regulatory obstacles. Currently, we are in the purely technical phase: mobile operators are ordering equipment and finalizing the selection of locations for base stations to ensure the highest-quality coverage in the capital," he concluded.
