Government allocates almost UAH 11 billion for armaments

The Ukrainian government is allocating an additional 10.8 billion hryvnias for the procurement and production of weapons.

This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko, according to RBC-Ukraine.

Funding for defense needs

According to her, the funds were accumulated in a special state budget fund and allocated for defense needs. Specifically, 9 billion hryvnias will be used to purchase new weapons and to repair and modernize equipment. Another nearly 2 billion hryvnias will go toward developing Ukraine’s defense industry: scaling up production and rapidly implementing battlefield technologies.

"These funds were accumulated through personal income tax, as well as licensing fees from the gambling industry and lotteries. We are directing all domestic resources toward supporting the Defense Forces," Svyrydenko noted.

Weapons Production in Ukraine

It is worth noting that Ukraine is consistently shifting from purchasing weapons to creating its own high-tech weapons. The focus is on drones and missiles. In particular, three "Flamingo" missiles are already being produced per day, and after switching to a domestically produced engine, production rates will increase in line with orders. A domestically developed guided aerial bomb, ready for combat use, has also been created.

Recently, Ukraine and Germany launched the joint Brave Germany program to develop defense technologies and support military startups. In addition, Ukraine has begun exporting weapons and has already finalized all details at the government level.
