Willie Sagnol has been dismissed as head coach of the Georgian national team

French coach Willy Sagnol was dismissed from his position as head coach of the Georgian national team on the eve of the Nations League match against Ukraine. This decision was made by the Georgian Football Federation.

The new head coach of the national team is 45-year-old Ramaz Svnadze, who signed a contract through 2028. Svnadze will lead Georgia in their home match against Ukraine, scheduled for September 28 in Tbilisi.

Sagnol stepped down after the Georgian national team lost 0–1 to Northern Ireland in the first round of the Nations League. Under his leadership, the team played 57 matches.

The French coach took over the Georgian national team in 2021 and achieved significant success, notably leading the team to the Euro 2024 finals, where the Georgians reached the round of 16.

The Ukrainian national team is also competing in the Nations League, and its opening matches have sparked interest among fans.
