In recent years, the number of job openings for older adults has increased. People over the age of 50 are increasingly returning to the labor market. Their numbers have grown significantly over the past year, and drivers, salespeople, and accountants remain among the most popular professions. This was reported by the State Employment Service of Ukraine.
Increased Activity
In June 2026, Ukrainians aged 50 and older accounted for 32% of all those placed in jobs through the Employment Service. The number of older adults successfully placed in jobs has been steadily increasing year over year: from 77,000 in 2023 to 110,000 in 2025.
Popular Occupations
Most often, job seekers aged 50 and older find employment as drivers, salespeople, cooks, accountants, nurses, and security guards.
New Support Program
In May 2026, the national project “Experience Matters” was launched. 2,300 people have already joined the program, and employers have offered more than 2,700 job openings.
Initial Results
As part of the new project, 800 older participants have already successfully found jobs, and another 700 or so are currently completing internships.
The number of Ukrainians aged 50 and older who have found employment continues to grow. As of the end of June 2026, there were 47,000 people aged 50 and older in Ukraine who found jobs through the employment service, accounting for 32% of the total number of employed individuals.
