U.S. President Donald Trump announced the successful completion of the rescue operation to save the second crew member of the F-15E shot down over Iran. According to him, the officer was found wounded but is now safe.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing Trump’s post on the social media platform Truth Social.
"We found him! Fellow Americans, over the past few hours, the U.S. military has conducted one of the most daring rescue operations in U.S. history to save one of our outstanding officers, who, by the way, is a respected colonel. I am delighted to report that he is safe," the U.S. leader noted.
Trump added that dozens of aircraft participated in the operation, and that "the Commander-in-Chief, the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and their comrades-in-arms tracked his location around the clock."
"At my order, the U.S. military sent dozens of aircraft armed with the deadliest weapons in the world to rescue him. He was wounded, but he will be fine," the U.S. president emphasized.
Trump also reported that the day before, U.S. forces had separately rescued another crew member from the same plane, but this was not made public at the time so as not to endanger the lives of others.
