The meeting between the presidents of Ukraine and the United States at the UN General Assembly will not take place

The official meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and U.S. President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, scheduled for September 21–22, will not take place. This was reported by U.S. Permanent Representative to the UN Mike Volz and sources at “Suspilne.” It is noted that this meeting is not on the White House chief’s schedule.

Trump will arrive in New York on September 21 and hold political events at Trump Tower. The following day, he will deliver a speech at the General Assembly session and meet with a number of international leaders, including British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodríguez, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, and the heads of state of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

After these events, Trump will return to Washington. Volts emphasized the importance of the bilateral meeting with the Japanese Prime Minister, noting that it will significantly influence relations ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit.

Recently, U.S. Special Envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner visited Russia and Ukraine for talks. U.S. media outlets speculate that these envoys may be replaced by CIA Director John Ratcliffe.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio pointed to the prospect of creating a roadmap for resuming peace talks in the coming weeks. However, Zelenskyy noted that a genuine resumption of talks is possible only after parliamentary elections in Russia.
