Several Ukrainian retail chains, including “Marketopt,” are taking steps to minimize their tax liability, despite promises to end these practices. This was stated by Danylo Getmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax, and Customs Policy.
Getmantsev noted that a year has passed since his first appeal to the Economic Security Bureau (ESB), and during this time, the "Marketopt" chain has continued to evade paying value-added tax. According to the politician, the chain has recruited new sole proprietors, despite raids and claims of changes in its operations.
The chairman of the Finance Committee also pointed out that new names have appeared on the chain’s receipts, specifically “Store 466” and “Store 121B,” which indicates that the practice of splitting transactions continues. He expressed concern about the insufficient results of the Economic Security Bureau’s (ESB) work in this area.
Getmantsev emphasized that he consistently calls on the revamped Bureau of Economic Security to take more concrete actions, rather than merely issuing slogans and press releases. He believes that tangible results from the Bureau’s work are critically important.
As a reminder, a few months ago it became known that following an investigation by the Economic Security Bureau, the “Marketopt” and “Optovychok” chains began conducting business audits and changing their operating models—in particular, by abandoning tax optimization schemes based on the simplified tax system.
