The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has drafted a bill that provides for the transfer of real estate owned by state-owned coal mining and coal processing enterprises, as well as enterprises engaged in the extraction and processing of uranium ore, from state to municipal ownership. This was announced by Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Shmyhal emphasized that this step is an important stage in the transformation of Ukraine’s coal-mining regions. He noted that transferring the property to local communities will ensure its effective use in accordance with the needs of local residents.
According to him, this process will also help attract donors and potential investors to develop areas where mines previously operated. The minister expressed hope that Parliament would support this bill.
Shmyhal emphasized that the implementation of this bill will help accelerate the transformation of mining communities into centers of prosperity and development. This is an important step toward improving the economic situation in regions affected by mine closures.
The bill aims not only to transfer property but also to create new opportunities for local economic development, which is critically important in the context of today’s challenges.
