On October 3, reports began circulating online that several dozen people had attempted to leave the occupied town of Oleshky in the Kherson region, where a humanitarian crisis is unfolding.
A video has also been posted online showing people on bicycles who, according to the authors, are heading toward the exit from the town. Other Telegram channels report that about a hundred people allegedly traveled to Russian-controlled Radensk to buy food and then returned.
Officials have not yet confirmed or denied this information. The condition of the people who attempted to leave Oleshky remains unknown, and it is also unclear in which direction they were actually traveling and for what purpose.
It is worth noting that leaving Oleshky is difficult due to the mined territory and constant shelling by the occupiers. The Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, previously reported that the Russian side is not allowing the evacuation of people through a humanitarian corridor.
The European Commission has called on Russia to ensure humanitarian access to Oleshky and allow civilians to leave the town. EU Commissioner for Preparedness, Crisis Management, and Equality, Hajja Lahbib, emphasized that the civilian population is under siege without access to food, medicine, or medical care.
