British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has stated that he is prepared to run in the Labour Party leadership election if his fellow party members decide to challenge his position.
According to The Sun, Starmer held phone conversations with key supporters over the weekend, assuring them that if his leadership is challenged, he will fight. In a speech on Friday, he emphasized that he has no plans to step down and warned that a leadership contest could cause chaos in the country.
This week, Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham stated that if he wins the local election in the Mayfield constituency, he will also join the race for the party leadership.
One Labour MP emphasized that Starmer has significant support both in Parliament and within the party and is ready to face any challenges. Another MP believes that, having been in office for less than two years, Starmer has a strong chance of winning the leadership contest.
Earlier reports indicated that the number of Britons who view the prime minister’s performance positively has risen due to his active diplomacy regarding the war in Ukraine.
