Iran has called for diplomacy in the conflict with the U.S. and Israel

On September 27, Iran confirmed that only diplomatic negotiations can resolve the conflict with the U.S. and Israel after U.S. President Donald Trump rejected Tehran’s proposal to open the Strait of Hormuz.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi noted on social media that Tehran’s conditions are clear and contingent upon the fulfillment of certain requirements. He emphasized that only a solution reached through negotiations can break the deadlock.

At the UN General Assembly, Iran presented a peace proposal, which was conveyed to the Americans through intermediaries from Qatar. Trump, however, rejected this plan, accusing Iran of attempting to strike a deal out of desperation.

Iran has set the condition that, should the U.S. agree to open the Strait of Hormuz and cease hostilities, international sanctions must be lifted, including the blockade of ports and the unfreezing of assets. According to Arakchi, if these conditions are met, discussions on Iran’s nuclear program may be possible.

At the same time, high-ranking officials in Tehran emphasized that Iran will not make concessions regarding its nuclear program, even if the U.S. agrees to the proposed peace plan. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian noted that Tehran is ready for negotiations but will not agree to coercion.
