In downtown Kharkiv on the night of October 2, a conflict broke out between military personnel, leading to a brawl and gunfire, which resulted in the death of a 33-year-old soldier. The suspect in the murder is a 50-year-old sergeant in the Ukrainian National Guard brigade, who fled the scene.
The incident occurred around midnight during curfew, while the soldiers were on the street. According to eyewitness accounts and surveillance camera footage, some of those involved in the conflict may have been intoxicated.
A verbal altercation between the soldiers escalated into a fight, after which shots were fired. At the scene, law enforcement officers found a “Fort-20” pistol, which was likely used to fire the shots.
The victim was identified as a 33-year-old soldier, a native of the Vinnytsia region. Police have already identified the suspect and are searching for him. It is known that there is no information in the court records regarding the sergeant’s prior criminal convictions.
In 2016, the suspect was fined 340 hryvnias for a traffic accident and was also issued a citation for drunk driving, but the case was closed due to lack of evidence of a crime. The police are currently investigating the case as a murder.
