The Price of the "Flamingo"
It is known that the cost of the Ukrainian “Flamingo” missile is just under $600,000, while the American Tomahawk costs about $3.5 million. This was reported by Iryna Terekh, CEO of Fire Point.
By comparison, producing the “Flamingo” costs Fire Point nearly six times less than manufacturing the Tomahawk by the American company Raytheon.
The Ukrainian company produces about 100 “Flamingo” missiles per month.
This cruise missile is capable of carrying a warhead weighing over a metric ton and has already been used to strike military targets on Russian territory.
According to the head of the defense company, one of the missions involved a flight of about 1,800 kilometers along a complex route, making it one of the longest flights ever recorded for a cruise missile of this type.
Other Fire Point Weapons
Iryna Terekh added that the Ukrainian manufacturer also produces hundreds of FP-1 and FP-2 long-range drones daily, which have been used repeatedly to attack enemy targets on the aggressor country’s territory. In particular, they have been used to strike oil refineries.
The CEO of Fire Point also noted that the Ukrainian defense industry has significantly increased its production of high-tech weapons in recent years.
Currently, the company has 83 production sites in Ukraine and one more in Denmark, and its workforce numbers about 6,000 employees.
In addition, the manufacturer is working on developing its own ballistic missile and is participating in the development of the European air defense system Freyja, which is intended to be a more affordable alternative to the American Patriot systems.
