Starting August 18, 2026, Kyivstar plans to shut down its 3G network in several regions of Ukraine. These frequencies will be reallocated to high-speed 4G as part of a strategy to improve connectivity.
Details of the Changes
The changes will affect the following areas:
- Dnipropetrovsk Oblast: Kryvyi Rih and Kryvyi Rih District.
- Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast: Horodenka, Dolyna, Sniatyn, and Verkhovyna District.
- Khmelnytskyi Oblast: certain localities.
What subscribers should check
- Make sure 4G is enabled in your smartphone’s settings.
- Turn on VoLTE to improve call quality.
- If necessary, replace your old SIM card with a new USIM without changing your number at your carrier’s store.
These changes are part of a long-term strategy for developing telecommunications infrastructure, which involves phasing out outdated technologies to improve LTE and roll out 5G throughout Ukraine.
