DFC will fund the modernization of Ukraine’s telecommunications infrastructure

The U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) plans to finance the modernization of telecommunications infrastructure and the development of energy storage systems in Ukraine. According to the Ministry of Economy and Environment of Ukraine, these measures will enhance the resilience and stability of the country’s power grid.

The DFC will allocate funds to Vodafone Ukraine to modernize critical telecommunications infrastructure. The project will also support a portfolio of energy storage systems with a total capacity of 200 MW / 400 MWh.

The energy storage systems, which will be deployed at six sites across Ukraine, will help improve the grid’s resilience. According to DFC representatives, the new solutions will be able to provide electricity to 600,000 households for two hours.

The DFC is a U.S. government agency that works with the private sector to finance solutions to the world’s most critical challenges. It invests in energy, healthcare, infrastructure, and other sectors.

Among the DFC’s already approved investments are more than $8 billion earmarked to support infrastructure in Ukraine, Jordan, and African countries, including funding for Vodafone Ukraine and DTEK.
