Yaroslav Zheleznyak, a member of parliament from the “Holos” faction, analyzed the rulings of the High Anti-Corruption Court and, using the Ternopil region as an example, uncovered three cases of corruption in the tax system. These included exorbitant bribes and financial manipulation involving businesspeople.
In February, an audit was conducted at the “Kolos-2” agricultural firm in the Ternopil region. The director was summoned for a “meeting,” during which tax officials stated that they could document violations totaling 19 million hryvnias but were willing to reduce that amount to 8 million. After the director refused, the tax authorities sent a report detailing violations amounting to 19 million hryvnias and later offered a bribe of 5 million.
In May, the director was offered 3 million hryvnias, but he turned to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU), which recorded the conversations and the marked bribe. The next audit took place in a bar, where the conversation put an end to the deal.
