Corruption and shelling: What Worries Ukrainians the Most — A Survey

According to the results of a survey conducted by the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, Ukrainians are most concerned about corruption in government and massive shelling. Respondents were able to select up to three answers from among the 12 options provided.

According to the data, 50% of those surveyed indicated that corruption worries them the most, while 40% selected the option regarding massive missile and drone strikes. Other issues that also caused concern include the unprofessionalism and incompetence of the government (30%), low wages and pensions (28%), the activities of the TCC (24%), and rising prices (23%).

Sociologists noted that 53% of respondents chose either “massive missile and drone strikes” or “the situation on the front lines,” indicating that the war is a major concern for citizens. At the same time, 64% of those surveyed expressed dissatisfaction with corruption among government officials or the government’s incompetence.

The survey was conducted from September 12 to 21, 2026, via telephone interviews with 1,002 respondents residing in territory controlled by the Ukrainian government. The margin of error for the sample does not exceed 4.1% for indicators close to 50%.

Recently, high-profile corruption scandals have erupted in Ukraine, particularly involving the Office of the Prosecutor General and Operation “Carthage,” during which a criminal group that was covering up the activities of fraudulent call centers was exposed. Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko signed a notice of suspicion against NABU Director Semen Kryvonos, accusing him of forging documents to receive a bribe.
