On the night of September 19, three explosions occurred in the village of Kalynivka in the Kyiv region, after which a fire broke out in the home of Stanislav Luchanov, the former commander of the 155th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is suspected of organizing the murder of the Mosiychuk brothers, who also lived in this village.
Luchanov’s wife, Daryna, was in the village with their children the day before the incident, and after they left, residents heard the explosions. According to a relative of the victims, the explosions appeared to be premeditated, as they occurred at the exact same time, and the fire in the house started immediately after the third explosion.
Rescue workers speculated that the fire might have been caused by faulty electrical wiring. Firefighters successfully extinguished the blaze that resulted from the explosions.
Back in June, according to sources, a group of soldiers abducted two brothers in Kalynivka and took them to an unknown location. On July 12, law enforcement officials detained nine soldiers from the 155th Brigade, and investigators are considering the possibility that the accomplices received an order from the brigade commander to punish the brothers for an incident involving Luchanov’s wife.
The brothers’ bodies were found buried in the Poltava region after a prolonged period of captivity. Stanislav Luchanov, who had left his military unit without permission, was sentenced in July by the Rokytne District Court of Kyiv Oblast to 60 days in jail without the right to bail.
