Today, a woman who served as an assistant to former National Security and Defense Council Secretary Volodymyr Gorbulin was killed as a result of a Russian strike on the building of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine.
This was reported by the academy’s press secretary, Maria Pryzigley, who noted that Gorbulin himself was also injured during the attack.
A direct hit struck the NASU Presidium building on Volodymyrska Street, which is now half-destroyed, and a massive fire broke out as a result of the strike.
“Everything inside and around the building burned down. The annexes were also destroyed. Everything was blown out—windows and doors were blown out. We definitely have one colleague who died—Vladimir Pavlovich Gorbulin’s assistant. She was near the entrance, I think,” Priziglei reported.
Information is also being verified regarding another woman who may have been taken to the hospital. Currently, there is no contact with the head of one of the departments, whose office was also hit by the Russians.
“We’re hoping for the best, but we can’t reach him,” she added.
